BROOKLYN, NY, NY – Six people were injured Sunday when an FDNY firetruck responding to a call in Bath Beach struck a car and then caromed into a children’s clothing store.
According to NBC News, the collision occurred in the Gravesend area at about 11:30 p.m. on December 20. A firetruck on its way to a blaze at 8750 Bay Parkway collided with an unspecified passenger vehicle and then crashed into Coquette Kids, located at 439 Avenue U.
The car’s driver was taken to Maimonides Medical Center with injuries that an FDNY spokesperson described as minor. Five firefighters were rushed to NYU Lutheran Medical Center, where they were listed in stable condition.
The Department of Buildings evacuated six residents from apartment units above the storefront, and issued a full-vacate order for both 437 and 439 Avenue U so that investigators could determine the extent of any structural damage.
