Food deliveryman killed in collision with Bud Light truck

QUEENS, NY –  A food deliveryman was killed in a collision with a Bud Light truck on Thursday, the New York Daily News reports.

The deliveryman was identified as Alfredo Cabrera Licona, a resident of Astoria. Mr. Cabrera Licona was 35 years old and is survived by his wife and two children.

According to witness statements, the scooter and the Bud Light truck were headed in the same direction on Astoria Boulevard and both had the light when the truck’s driver made a right turn. The scooter slammed into the truck as it turned onto Crescent Street.

Cabrera Licona’s scooter skidded beneath the truck. It took ten minutes to extricate him. Witnesses report that he was unconscious shortly after the accident.

Daily News reports Cabrera Licona was rushed to Mount Sinai Queens, a few blocks south of the accident. Unfortunately, Cabrera Licona was pronounced dead shortly after admittance.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene. No charges have been filed against them at this time.

Truck Accidents in New York

Commercial trucks are just one of the many kinds of large vehicles that motorists and pedestrians will encounter on New York roads. When these large, heavy vehicles collide with passenger vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, or pedestrians, the consequences can be devastating.

Motorcyclists, cyclists, and those on foot are particularly at risk of suffering severe or fatal injuries due to the lack of protective safety features and the sheer size and weight of the vehicles they’re up against.

In the most tragic cases, a commercial truck accident may be fatal. If you lost someone you love in an accident involving a commercial truck, you may be eligible for additional compensation through a wrongful death claim. This type of claim can help you seek financial support for:

  • Funeral and burial expenses
  • End-of-life medical care
  • Emotional distress
  • Loss of future income
  • Loss of consortium
  • Loss of medical and retirement benefits

The money you receive from an injury claim can never replace all that you have lost. However, seeking fair compensation is the best way to ensure that you can protect yourself and your loved ones after a devastating commercial truck accident, and to hold the negligent parties accountable.
