Injuries from Commercial Vehicle Accidents
Accidents involving buses and other commercial vehicles are extremely dangerous and can have serious or even deadly consequences. Commercial vehicles often are much larger than most other vehicles on the road and they weigh significantly more. These factors increase the force of the impact when a collision occurs. Additionally, commercial vehicles may have numerous blind spots and a wide turning radius, which makes them much more likely to cause accidents while on the road.
No matter whether you are a driver, a cyclist, or a pedestrian, if you are involved in a collision with a commercial vehicle, you may suffer extreme injuries from the accident, including but not limited to:
- Broken or fractured bones
- Cuts and lacerations
- Neck and spine injuries
- Spine and spinal cord damage
- Traumatic brain injury
- Internal organ damage
- Amputations
These injuries typically require emergency medical care, and you may have to undergo additional medical treatment and rehabilitation long after the accident occurs.
In the worst-case scenario, an accident with a commercial vehicle can have life-altering consequences such as paralysis, permanent brain damage, coma, seizures, and even death. If the crash was caused by negligence on the part of the bus driver, the MTA, or another entity, you could be entitled to seek full and fair compensation for your pain, suffering, medical bills, lost wages, and other damages.
If you lost a loved one in a bus crash caused by negligence, you could be eligible to file a wrongful death action to recover funeral and burial costs, final medical bills, loss of financial support, and emotional support, among other damages including pain and suffering of the decedent prior to death.
