LEONARDSVILLE, NY – Three people sustained severe injuries in a head-on tractor-trailer crash on Sunday evening.
WKTV reports that the crash occurred at approximately 6:00 p.m. on August 2. William Chaisson was driving his pick-up truck north on State Route 8 near School Street when he collided head-on with a tractor-trailer. Witnesses report that Chaisson drove into the southbound lane and hit the tractor-trailer driven by 44-year-old Justin Parker.
Three ambulances and a Mercy Flight emergency helicopter arrived on the scene to assist the accident victims, according to Syracuse.com. Officials on the scene had to extract Chaisson from his truck and airlift him to Upstate University Hospital for treatment. Medics stated that Chaisson is in stable condition.
Tractor-trailer driver, Justin Parker, and a female passenger were both injured in the crash. Medical personnel transported both victims to a local hospital for treatment. According to reports on August 4, both Parker and the passenger have been released from the hospital.
After the accident, Madison County Sheriffs closed all traffic on State Route 8 for several hours. At this time, the police have not charged either driver for the accident. However, the incident is still under investigation.
