NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. – An accident on the two-lane of Route 207 resulted in injuries to three people, including one child.
ABC News reports that a school bus collided with a work truck Wednesday morning in New Windsor, sixty-six miles northeast of New York City. The bus was from Little Britain Elementary School. The crash happened less than five miles from Little Britain Elementary School. The work truck involved was owned by a local tree trimming service company.
The New Windsor Police Department reported that a preliminary investigation revealed a westbound truck crossed over a double yellow line and hit a school bus, traveling eastbound, head-on. The front of the school bus was severely damaged. The accident is still under investigation.
Police said a third vehicle was also involved in the crash.
New Windsor Police also reported that eight children were on the bus at the time of the collision. One of the children, a girl, had to be extricated from the bus and was critically injured. The children were all taken to St. Luke’s Hospital to be examined.
The drivers of the school bus and tree trimming truck, whose names were not released immediately, were also taken to the hospital in critical condition.
According to officials, local emergency services and district personnel arrived quickly at the scene and the parents of the children were also notified.
